OPENING CEREMONY

The opening ceremony will be held on July 19, 2024 at 4pm in the Swiss-Belhotel’s Kahayan Ballroom. To accommodate all participants and guests, an additional tent outside the foyer will be used. Interpretation will be available during the opening ceremony for those who need it. You can get your device at one of the interpretation desks near the ballroom entrance. We ask that the seats closest to the interpretation booths are left for those who will be listening to the interpretation to ensure good sound quality for all listeners. Please note, a congress badge is needed to attend the Opening Ceremony.

BEFORE THE OPENING CEREMONY: FOR SUBUD MEMBERS ONLY

Before the official ceremony begins, Subud members will be invited to watch a subtitled talk by Bapak 70 PAR 1 in the main ballroom. During this time children and youth will have activities planned and they can join the ceremony with their families at 4 pm.

THE MAIN EVENT

Ibu Ary Sutedja has been working hard to create a unique and special event to commence our World Congress. The event will showcase central Kalimantan’s rich Dayak culture and promises to have something for everyone! Some local government officials have been invited as our special guests to join the opening of our congress. ‘

WHAT TO WEAR FOR THE OPENING CEREMONY

As the 19th July will be a public day at the congress venue, members are asked to dress accordingly. Following the example Bapak set for us during the 1971 World Congress opening ceremony, we will ask those of us who come from countries where national (regional) dress is worn on formal occasions, to wear those clothes if we possess them. Those of us who come from countries which either do not have such a dress or no longer use it, are asked to dress as we would in our own country if we were attending an official reception.
