Vincent Mount writes…The Ukraine project is the Soup-making project that Subud Ukrainians are involved with in their city of Kyiv. They prepare dried soup ingredients using fresh local produce to distribute to whoever is in need of sustenance. Whilst this does include some of the army fighting on the front line against the Russians, it also includes many civilians and to be honest the lines between military and non-military are very blurred there.

Everyone is doing their bit to help in the difficult circumstances they are enduring there together. Because there was concern raised by some Subud members around the world about us supporting potentially military activity, when SD prefers not to take a partisan role, we asked the international helpers for support for us all during an online Zoom call recently, and we tested if it was appropriate for us to continue our financial support of the soup making project.

The testing and receiving was a powerful and bonding experience for us all. The receiving was unanimous that this was a project about loving one’s fellow human beings in a natural and helpful way, and there was no doubt that we should continue to support the project on behalf of Subud. If you can let members know that they can support that project via SDIA using the link on our website, The funds go straight to the Ukraine to support them. That would be great.
