The 17th and, in particular, the 18th of July have been the big day for arrivals, and everything appears to be going very smoothly.
The Subud youth have a first team inside the baggage claims area at Palangka Raya airport, and are registering members as they arrive or, as the case may be, sending them on to register at their respective hotels, where further teams await them. As people exit the arrivals area they are greeted and welcomed by another team who direct them to the correct bus to reach their different hotels. It’s always wonderful to greet the many familiar faces… such as Hassan Czwiertnia (SWN webmaster) and his lovely wife Farah seen in the photo. A group with a number of our beloved elders has also arrived (top photo).
In the meantime exhibitions and presentations are being set up at different venues, old friends meet for lunch or dinner, new friends are made, refreshments are consumed, birthdays celebrated. Small working groups grab windows of opportunity to meet, while the International Helpers are testing in new trustees for MSF in a closed session. And the Backyard Borneo photo exhibition is fully in place! Is that an orangutan I see up in that tree?
Today, the 19th, is the first official day of congress. You can see the schedule for the day here. The opening ceremony this afternoon will also be attended by official guests from the city and region.
Harris Smart is also working on a world congress blog, which you can check out here on the Subud Voice site.
