SUBUD NEWSLETTER PROJECT

Subud Newsletter Project, filmed by Ashwin Rajaraman, edted by Michael Troxell, 7 mins. –

A link to a short 7-minute film about Subud Newsletter Project and history of Subud filmed by Ashwin Rajaraman of India when he visited WSA Archives in Washington DC recently. In it Subud Archivist Daniela Moneta shows him around the dedicated Archive building and Centerprise, giving a brief overview of the wonderful work being accomplished. Daniela, a professional archivist, began her work with Bapak’s Archives at Wisma Subud (1988-1992), and has dedicated her life to establishing Subud in the world by means of preserving Subud historical documents – which Ibu Rahayu has noted is necessary for any organization to establish its existence in the world.

Daniela Moneta, WSA Archivist writes…

Sahlan Simon Cherpitel’s comments about this project may help others understand the importance of this Archive’s work that has yet to be finished.

This is what Sahlan said about the film Ashwin made about the Archives’ Newspaper Project – collecting and making available our newsletters from international groups, Zones, and kejiwaan areas, the Wings and affiliates, down to our local groups – reflecting our amazing Subud history from the earliest times to today. Without collecting, preserving, and making this material available to members today and to the future generations of Subud, this important source for our Subud history will be lost, buried in time.

The Archives’ Newspaper Project is a way of preserving our Subud history in all of the weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports about our work and activities through our Subud history to be found in each Subud country, Without this valuable source as “proof and evidence” of what really happened, we cannot write our Subud history. This is what Sahlan said about it:

“Last night i chanced to come across & see Ashwin’s movie of the archives & i think his film captures what you are doing better than anything else i’ve seen so far…… his visual portrayal is marvelous in truly capturing what you are doing.”
